Get Your Glow On

Dewy, ethereal, glowy skin is in for spring in a major way. It was all over the runway, and it can be yours  too. The best way to achieve this look is to use a liquid or creme highlighter. These illuminating products can come in different shades and textures but they all offer an iridescent sheen to brighten the face and make you glow.

Highlighters should be applied on all of the high points of the face or body, since they help to bring those areas out. The most common areas being under the eyebrow, down the nose, across the forehead, and above the cheekbone. Some more advanced places to apply would be on the cupids bow above the lip, the chin, and under the bottom lip.

To apply a liquid highlighter you can either use your fingers, a foundation brush, or a stippling brush to achieve the most natural look possible. I prefer to apply with either my fingers or a stiff medium sized foundation brush. Here’s my top picks on how to achieve the best luminous glow.

  • Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer – This bronze liquid should be called “cheekbones in a bottle.” it offers the most gorgeous candlelit glow to any feature you want to emphasize. The color is appropriate for any skin tone and it contains Argan Oil which is an anti-againg ingredient. This illuminator can also be mixed with your foundation or tinted moisturizer to add luminosity to the entire face.
  • Urban Decay Urbanglow Creme Highlight – This is creme highlighting at it’s very best. It’s best applied with a brush, and can transform the way your make-up looks. The texture of this creme is almost like a souffle, it feels so creamy on the skin and blends effortlessly.  If you want to have a major glow and turn heads, this is for you
  • Smashbox Artificial Light Luminizing Lotion - The undertones in this highlighter cause it to look almost garish on the skin. It has a nice effect if used in moderation or mixed with another product, the shimmer is not overpowering, but it does add a nice sheen. However the color payoff can be iffy on most skin types, unless you are an alien with blue undertones.
  • Benefit Cosmetics High Beam – If dewy is the goal, this is the highlighter. I love to mix a bit of this with my foundation when I need a pick me up. The pinky shade is great for sallow skin tones, it help relieve the dull look and make you look positively radiant.

I gave you my favorite picks, now its time for you to get your glow on!
